Q&As

1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: On dusk/dawn/motion setting where it's on low until motion detected then brightens briefly, how long should the charge last? Set up in open field so it gets all day sun, but only lasts 4-5 hours once it comes on at dusk.

1 Answer
  • A: On this energy-saving setting, your Field & Stream Solar Hog Light should easily last all night long (8 to 12 hours). Because it remains on a low standby mode until motion is detected, a 4-to-5-hour runtime indicates that the integrated lithium battery is either not getting fully charged or is losing its capacity How to troubleshoot and fix it 1.Clear the Area: Ensure there is no grass or limbs anywhere near the PIR sensor's detection zone. 2.Perform a Deep Charge: Turn the light completely OFF using the power switch or the remote control. Leave it mounted in the field for 2 to 3 full sunny days while turned off. This cuts off all night drain and forces the solar panel to top the lithium battery off to 100% capacity 3.Use the USB-C Backup: Because the Field & Stream model features a USB-C charging port, you can bring it inside and plug it into a standard wall outlet overnight. This is the quickest way to isolate whether the issue is a weak battery or a charging problem in the field

Good Lighting

I'm used to more expensive lights (ASF, etc.), but thought I'd give it a try. Good lighting. At 100 yds with a decent scope you can get a shot at pig or other critters. I suggest mounting on a 10 ft T-post for wider beam. The mounting bracket has something to be desired, especially on T-post. I use the dusk/dawn/motion setting where it's on low power till motion detected, then brightens. Thought light would last all night, but so far only good for 4-5 hours. I have it on an open field, so it's getting an all day charge. It's good enough for the money, just wish charge lasted longer

Yes, I recommend this product.

Powerful

For such a small light, it packs a punch! It was easy to install and took no special tools. It was easy to set up. I like having a light when I’m taking the dog out in the dark, and this one is great for letting me know if other critters are around. Last weekend, it turned on for a skunk right before we went out!

This is a poor quality item. The metal is very thin and flimsy. I tried to even put the pole where it belongs in the head part and it wouldn't fit. I even tried to hit it in and still wouldn't go in all the way to even be hung up.

Great for outdoor use

I really like the Field & Stream Solar Hog Light. It has three different modes one for solar charging, another for dusk and Dawn use with motion detection, as well as just a motion detection mode. The charge is great on it and holds well you have the option to use the solar panel or the USB-C type cord making it very compatible with most modern devices. The green luminosity LED is awesome and reaches between 15 to 30 ft in front of the light. It even gets a good solar charge with little lighting. My only discrepancy was a manufacturing issue with the hole where the pole goes into the actual light wasn't bore out very well and we kind of had to fight getting the pole into the light area. Install after that was very easy it's easy to put up and easy to remove. Great addition for us being able to detect all the wildlife around us!
