House Flies, Stable Flies

When flies are a menace in your stable, it's time to target them at their source - your horse's manure. If not treated, the manure from one horse has the potential to produce tens of thousands of flies in a single day. Introduce SimpliFly Feed-Thru Fly Control to your horse's daily diet, and suddenly you're turning the favorite breeding grounds of stable and house flies into a No Fly Zone. When fed daily, SimpliFly Feed-Thru Fly Control breaks the house and stable fly life cycle by preventing fly larvae from developing in a horse's manure. This fly growth regulator is made without organophosphates and will pass through your horse's body unabsorbed. The feed will instead excrete the active ingredient diflubenzuron into their manure, preventing it from being a viable breeding ground. This product can be effectively started anytime during fly season, but for best results, beginning daily feeding in early spring before fly season is optimal. SimpliFly Feed-Thru Fly Control is a highly palatable mixture that your horse will readily eat and easily mixes in with their daily feed. As part of an integrated, pest management program, you can see a significant decline in this season's house and stable fly population. Keep your stable happy and target the fly problem at its source with SimpliFly Feed-Thru Fly Control. Bugs don't fly with Farnam, your partner in horse care.A 3.75lb bucket lasts 60 days for one horse!

  • REDUCE THE FLY POPULATION around your stable by preventing house and stable flies from developing in your horses manure.
  • HIGHLY PALATABLE PELLETS made with alfalfa. Simply add to your horses feed.
  • CONTAINS NO ORGANOPHOSPHATES and passes through your horse without being absorbed. Only affects your horses manure.
  • FORMULATED WITH LARVASTOP and diflubenzuron as the main active ingredients to prevent the formation of house and stable flies.
  • ECONOMIC SIZING OPTIONS AVAILABLE in 3.75 lb. 60-day supply, 10 lb. 160-day supply, 20 lb. 320-day supply and 50 lb. 800-day supply.

Q&As

1 - 10 of 34 Questions

Q: Is this dangerous if my dogs eat ot?

1 Answer
  • A: Eating Farnam SimpliFly (an equine supplement) is generally not an emergency, though it can cause mild stomach upset. The active ingredient, diflubenzuron, targets chitin, which insects (but not mammals) use to build exoskeletons. The low toxicity means serious poisoning is unlikely, but you should still monitor your dog closely.

Q: Can you feed to cattle that are treated like horses?

1 Answer
  • A: Not with SimpliFly as dosages are different and SimpliFly is made for horses. TSC does sell a product called ClariFly 15lb and that has dosage recommendations for cattle and other farm animals.

Q: Does this keep horse flies off horses or just keep flies from maturing in the manure?

1 Answer
  • A: The product keeps flies from maturing in the manure. You would need a fly spray like Endure to keep the flies off the horse.

Q: Will this be a problem for dogs who may injest the manure?

1 Answer
  • A: No because dogs would struggle to consume enough manure from treated animals to result in toxicity related to the diflubenzuron in that manure. Diflubenzuron typically has a low toxicity in mammals. Based on the LD50 in rats, dogs would need to eat an unrealistic amount of treated manure to reach toxicity levels. They are more likely to experience GI upset from eating too much manure, long before they eat enough treated manure to reach those levels. With that being said, and airing on the side of caution, we have always told horse owners that if their dog ingests manure on a frequent basis, and they cannot keep the dog from doing so, it would be better not to use SimpliFly/Equitrol II. But again, it is unlikely the dog would ingest enough treated manure to reach levels of concern.

I don't recommend

I started my two horses on this at the beginning of March and the flies are still awful. I was hoping to avoid the use of fly spray but they would have dozens of flies on their legs. I've now started Fly Predators and Bug Check and will finish off the bucket I have of this but I don't think it made any difference at all.

No, I do not recommend this product.

SimpliFly seems to be working!

I had fly traps up in my pasture. They not only seemed to be attracting more flies, but were so disgusting to clean out that I threw them away. I started SimpliFly about 3 weeks ago and I can see a difference in the number of flies in the pasture and on the horse. I still have to use fly spray because this horse attracts flies like crazy. But there are LOTS fewer. Note also that the horse she shares a small barn with and is pastured next to her does not use SimpliFly (that horse just doesn't get flies on her) and the product still works.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great fly prevention!

I was looking for a product to help reduce our fly population. SimpliFly has been a great product for my barn! Within a few months of feeding it, the amount of flies has drastically decreased. It's easy to feed and even my picky eaters have zero trouble finishing it. The best practice we have learned is to start feeding it early Spring before the flies are at their strongest. The horses are so much happier without all those annoying bugs flying around! We will be using this product every year and recommended it to all our friends!

Yes, I recommend this product.
