Electrolyte supplementation is often thought of as only needed by performance horses; however, any horse that sweats for a prolonged period of time, regardless of reason, will benefit from electrolyte supplementation. Horses sweat for various reasons, the most common being exercise, weather, stress, and illness. When horses sweat, it results in the loss of not only water, but also sodium chloride, potassium and lesser amounts of calcium and magnesium. If these are not replenished, it could result in a significant body deficit of these electrolytes and cause fatigue, muscle weakness, fatigue, reduced feed and water intake, and reduced sweating, which can lead to overheating and compromise overall health and performance. Apple Elite Electrolyte supplement replaces vital minerals lost through sweat during exercise, extreme weather conditions and stressful situations. This complete electrolyte formula is an excellent means to encourage healthy water consumption year-round, and support muscle function, fluid balance and energy production at a cellular level. This palatable apple-flavored powder is great for daily use; just mix in with your horse's regular grain ration.

While it is formulated primarily for horses, the key ingredients—salt, potassium, magnesium, and calcium—are effective at replenishing lost fluids in poultry and waterfowl.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can this be given to miniature horses and if so, what is the daily dosing?
2 years ago- A: Yes, miniature horses can be given our supplements. We usually air on the side of caution and decrease the serving size with smaller horse’s/lower body weight, unless the label specifically says one size serving regardless of size/weight. The majority of our supplements are formulated based on a 1,000 lb. to 1,200 lb. horse, so it seems logical that we would need to decrease for horses weighing less than half of that. Here’s our general rule of thumb: < 250 lb.: ¼ serving size 250 lb. – 500 lb.: ½ serving size 500 lb. – 750 lb.: ¾ serving size 750 lb. – 1,200 lb.: full recommended serving size >1,200 lb.: Increase the serving size depending on horse’s weight (ie: 1,500 lb. = 1 ½ serving size), but never go over 2x the recommended serving even if the body weight calls for it.2 years agoHelpful?
