The Skullerz 8988-MIPS Safety Helmet Replacement Suspension easily and securely attaches to Skullerz Safety Helmets with Mips Technology using 6-built in mounting locations on the helmet shell. The suspension is integrated with the Mips Elevate safety systema low-friction layer that slides multi-directionally upon angled impact with the intention of reducing the transmission of rotational force to the head. MIPS ELEVATE SAFETY SYSTEM REDUCES COSTLY EFFECT OF ANGLED IMPACTS  Unlike traditional hard hats and safety helmets which are designed primarily to protect against direct impacts, this safety helmet suspension features Mips technology for protection against angled impactsa common form of impact that occurs upon falling or contact.

How does Mips work?

Mips Elevate is a low-friction layer designed to slide multi-directionally (10-15mm) upon certain angled impacts to help reduce rotational force to the head.

What is rotational motion and why is it harmful?

Because the brain has shear properties similar to water or gel, it it more sensitive to rotational motion than linear (direct) motion. When parts of the brain move relative to each other as a result of rotational force, the tissues can stretchpotentially leading to life-altering TBIs such as concussions.
