'Patriot' is great for northern climates and is disease resistant. It produces delicious berries for pies, jams, preserves, muffins, and desserts. It is lovely used as an ornamental bush and is well-loved by wildlife. The flowers provide nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, while birds and other wildlife eat the fruit. Blueberry 'Patriot' is a dormant plant selected by DeGroot, allowing you to get a head start to the season! Due to its dormant state, this plant may lack foliage until it is planted. There is no need to wait until after frost; this may be planted as soon as the ground is workable. This early planting prevents transplant shock and allows more time to develop its root system. If your plant does have foliage, protect it from frost. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 4-6 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth. Guaranteed to Grow* Product must be purchased before June 1st. Sales receipt and UPC required. For refund, please go to: https://retail.degroot-inc.com/guarantee.

Q: I bought 3 of these and planted about 2 weeks ago and still do not see any growth. How long before I should see something?
3 years ago- A: Dear Chinson, Our product is dormant, packaged bare root plants intended to be without foliage (leaves) while in the store. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 6-8 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth. We encourage you to contact us at (269)468-6714 or sales@degroot-inc.com if you have additional questions. Thank you again for your inquiry. Thank you, DeGroot Inc.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: If I buy some plants today (March 14), can I store them until the ground is workable? I live in Michigan.
3 years ago- A: Thank you for your inquiry. We recommending planting your dormant bare root blueberry plant as soon as the ground is workable. This allows your plant to develop its root system and break dormancy naturally with the seasons. For example, if your ground is not frozen this week, it can be planted now while it's still dormant (no foliage). If you'd like to wait, we recommend storing your plants in a cool dark place to help keep them dormant until you're ready to plant. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us at (269) 468-6714 or sales@degroot-inc.com. Happy planting! Thank you, DeGroot Inc.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: Do these produce fruit the first year or how many years until it does?
4 years ago- A: Thank you for your inquiry. Your blueberry plant may produce fruit the first year; however, the plant will produce more abundant fruit and better quality fruit in the 2nd year after planting. We encourage you to contact us at (269) 468-6714 or sales@degroot-inc.com if you have additional questions. Happy Planting! Thank you, DeGroot Inc.4 years agoHelpful?
Q: Can the Patriot Blueberry plant be planted in a container? If so what kind of planter? Do you ever have to transplant it into the ground?
4 years ago- A: Dear Ruthie, Thank you for your inquiry. Patriot blueberry plants may be planted in a container. We recommend using a 3 gallon container to provide a nice root structure for the plant while being sturdy enough to withstand winds. We also recommend adding a bit of peat moss to the soil. The plant can last its lifetime in a pot. Be sure not to over water the plant as this can lead to root rot. If you are watering regularly and the leaves begin to brown during the growing season, this may be a symptom of root rot. If you have additional questions, please contact us at (269) 468-6714 or sales@degroot-inc.com. Happy planting! Thank you, DeGroot Inc.4 years agoHelpful?
