- A: No, they are Kevlar wrapped with stainless steel. They are made to automotive standards to be able to handle electronic ignitions, which produce a much high voltage. The old copper core wires are not good for electronic ignitions, or even running an engine with the copper wires too close to any vehicle what has electronics on it, the copper wires leek current damaging the components.7 years agoHelpful?

I bought the set with the box labeled “FORD 8N” only to get it home and discover the wires too short!!!!!!! They must have been cur for the “late”8N and the “early* 8N. Of course when I traveled the 20 miles back to Tractor Supply they didn’t have any other 8N plug wires! At least they did have a “universal” set so I could cut my own, but I coul;d have gotten those at any auto parts store!
