Poor Quality Construction of Shade itself
18 days ago
We have had Coolaroo shades in multiple houses and never had an issue. Until now. We ordered an 8x6 outdoor roller shade and the edge of one side was coming apart from the time we took it out of the packaging. Additionally, the shade doesn't roll up evenly so it looks wonky every time we roll it up. Disappointing. While the shade works and looks ok for now, I am watching the frayed side like a hawk and anticipate having to order a new one before end of summer.

Roller shade

We have several coolaroo shades and love them. Keeps the porch much cooler and keeps the sun from heating up the house. New shade is for another section of the porch and looks like it will work well. They are also attractive to look at.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great product!

I installed three Coolaroo exterior shades on my second-floor windows here in Arizona, and the difference is immediate. They cut a ton of direct sun, and the bedrooms are noticeably cooler during peak heat—less strain on the AC and way more comfortable.
Installation took some effort (stucco mounting isn’t trivial), but totally doable DIY. I went with the crank version—smooth, controlled, and feels solid. Once up, they look clean and intentional, like a professional install.
Yes, the rooms are darker—especially with darker fabric—but that’s part of why they work so well. You trade a bit of brightness for a big gain in heat reduction and glare control.
The biggest win: cost effectiveness. Doing this myself saved a significant amount compared to getting quotes from vendors, and the end result looks just as good. For the performance you get, these are an excellent value.
Bottom line: if you live in a hot climate and want a real, noticeable improvement, these are absolutely worth it.
Yes, I recommend this product.
