Cold Steel's Thompson Saber is not a historical or period-specific sword; rather it is a newly developed, thoroughly modern saber. Designed by Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson, and bearing his name, the Thompson Saber was created to Lynn's exact specifications. Lynn said: "I wanted to make a battle sword. Not a dueling sword as such, but a true sword fighter's blade for the modern martial artist" "It's ground to my exact specifications; as it slightly favors the cut over the thrust, it's hair shaving sharp for the first six inches from the point, then gradually less sharp down through the rest of the blade, leaving enough material to block, parry and even bludgeon an opponent's blade. It's deeply blued to aid in rust resistance, but also to make the blade harder to see in the fast paced cut and thrust of combat!" The Thompson Saber has a modified 1904 Saber guard and a sizeable ray skin wrapped handle that will accommodate even big modern fencer's gloves. The Thompson Saber comes complete with a heavy duty thick leather and steel scabbard with a leather belt frog for ease of carry.

    Go to sword

I've owned the heavy calvary saber, Austrian saber, 1796, and the Thompson. I bought the Thompson, directly from him at the parking lot sale, back in the day. Thompson is my favorite in terms of weight, balance, grip size (larger than Austrian). If I were to have just one sword, this would be it.

    Awesome quality blade!

I’m not super familiar with swords but I have seen some cheap ones. This one is not that; seems good quality. I’ve defeated many targets with no dulling or chipping of the blade. After a couple months the blade loosened a little from the hilt; this was rectified with minimal turning of rear securing nut. Little heavy, but that is the style. Would definitely recommend!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

How much more black could it be? The answer is none. None more black. Form + function. Razor sharp distally tapered business end. Good balance. Feels and moves fantastic in the hand. It's one helluva back yard bottle assassin, tatami slicin', melon slayin' black beauty of a beast and down right righteous cold piece of steel. Well done, Gents.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
