Designed by Luke LaFontaine and Dave Baker, Cold Steels new one-handed Messer is a sword that just has to be held to be appreciated! This modern interpretation of the historical German Langes Messer (or Long Knife) is beautifully balanced and a joy to use. Thinner and lighter than many of our current offerings, it handles almost like a giant Bowie Knife! Its clip-point style blade is fully sharpened on the primary edge, with an un-sharpened false edge terminating in a sturdy upswept point. The Messers stylish and functional cross-guard, knuckle bow and pronounced shell-shaped Nagel are also blued to match the blade and enhance the rich brown of the rosewood handle scales. Complete with a black leather scabbard with blued fittings, this beautiful new addition to our Man at Arms series has already become a firm favorite with our crew, and were sure it will be a popular addition to your collection!

Absolutely amazing, until the blade snapped off.

I bought the messer for relatively hard use, and it did absolutely amazing until the bade snapped off, right where it meets the handle. Out of the box it handles fairly well with only a few sharp points to be worked out on the handle. The blade is amazing and works extremely well as a machete or bowie blade with little conditioning and setup/sharpening/grinding. The thinness makes it a joy to swing and is relatively durable..... that said, after a summer's use of work, while cutting a large vine, I heard a "ping" and i was left holding only a hilt and handle..... it was a sad day( probably a misstempered weld at the joint?). I kept the parts and spot welded them together to make wall art, and it does very well as that. Nice clean asthetics, solid blade, the guard is wonderfull, the pomell and the joint where blade meets hilt needs serious work. Thanks, L
