The reliable 224cc single-cylinder OHV Champion engine produces 5000 starting watts and 4000 running watts, and will run for up to 14 hours at 50% load when the 4.7-gallon tank of gasoline is full. With a noise level of 68 dBA from 23 feet, which is about as loud as a vacuum cleaner, this machine can handle most essentials in an outage, plus the Volt Guard built-in surge protector prevents overloads and keeps your equipment safe from spikes in voltage. All the outlets have covers for protection and include a 120V 30A (TT-30R) RV outlet as well as a 120/240V 30A locking outlet (L14-30R) and a 120V 20A household duplex outlet (5-20R). This generator will put out the standard THD rating of about 12%-20% depending on load applied. They will produce a sine wave, not a modified or square wave. This is perfectly acceptable for running common commodities found in your home such as TVs, computers, your appliances, etc. THD is a measure of the deviation of a sine wave from a "pure" sine wave. All electricity, including line electricity, has measurable THD. If you have a specific item that requires less than 3% THD such as a UPS style battery backup, a pellet stove, or high efficiency furnace control board, we recommend purchasing a Champion Inverter Generator (sizes from 2000W to 11,000W); Champion Open Frame Inverter (sizes from 4250W to 9000W) or a Champion Home Standby Generator (range from 8.5KW to 22KW); all units provide less than 3% THD. I bought this generator 6 months ago and never took it out of the box until the large ice storm 1 week ago in North Carolina. I assembled a wheel kit on the unit, put oil and gas and the unit started up very easy. I used the unit for two days while the power was out. I operated my refrigerator, several lights along with gas log fans during the power outage.

I bought this generator after my older model from a different brand starting giving me issues and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively lightweight and easy to start this little unit is. It easily runs my 30 amp camper and is surprisingly quiet even though that wasn't really a selling point for me due to how my camp is laid out. If i had any negative issue, it would be that the filler hole for the fuel is hard to get the gas from splattering due to being quite shallow but that is partially due to using a racing fuel jug so that isn't really a problem in my mind. Fuel consumption is about standard for what you would expect so runtime is decent on a full tank and I like the added safety of the built in CO detector for added peace of mind. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend.

Champion are by far, my favorite generator I've used on the ranch, and I've tried many others.
I've been using Champion generators on my ranch, running my well and with my RV for over 5 years now. They are super easy to service and preform great. I'm in AZ and the biggest issue I have is the fuel line drying out. Super easy to change and doesn't cost much. I change the oil regularly, clean the filters and change the spark plug yearly. By far a great generator for the price.

I bought this generator just yesterday after a major storm came through and knocked a bunch of trees down in my area the day before. With another storm coming, I didn't want to risk my sump pump loosing power (no batter backup). I've been looking into generators for a while, and don't have the budget for an inverter style with the same power output. Hence, this model.
It was very straightforward to get up and running, and I even affixed my kid's old 12" bike wheels and made it very simple to haul around. After oiling and gasing it up, it started on the first pull. Worked like a charm. Very satisfied with my purchase. In sort of a masochistic twist, I now look forward to losing power so I have another excuse to run this thing. It'll also come in handy at my dad's very remote and off the grid cabin when we need to run some power tools.

This is my second champion generator. Purchased a larger unit to keep more of our appliances powered during power outages. Worked great to keep our fridges and freezers powered during a recent 18 hour power outage. Ran all night and most of the day. Was easy on fuel and not extremely loud.

GREAT BUY! Easy to start and AMAZING Performance

I bought this at the end of 2024. I (44F) had a hard time starting our old generator, but when it finally required too many repairs and became unreliable, we searched for a reasonably priced generator to meet our needs. We live in a rural area and our power goes out a couple of times a year, so having a generator for light, refrigerator, fans/heaters, etc, is a blessing. Recently (June 2025), we had a slew of bad storms and lost power often. I was home alone with my young daughter when I needed to pull the generator out of the box for the first time. It was easy for me to set up by myself. It came with clear instructions, and I was able to refer to the manual for any other questions I had. Once it was time to start it, I was able to power it up without any issue. My FAVORITE PART, this generator was able to run ALL of the appliances/electrical requirements that I needed without refilling it for about 8 hours! Our old generator required refilling every 4-6 hours to run the same appliances, meaning I would have to get up in the middle of the night to refill with gas. I was able to sleep all night and not worry about having to wake up and refill with gas. This was a GREAT BUY!

My generator had low hours, but shortly after the warranty expired the generator stopped producing electricity. The engine runs fine, but doesn’t help if it doesn’t produce electricity.

I had to buy this generator after my old one blew on me. Compared to my old one this one works way more efficiently, quieter, and gets exactly what I needed powered. We typically run our fridge, sump pump, freezer, WiFi and in the winter our blower motor for our wood burner all at the same time as our power goes out frequently and this generator handles it perfectly without making you go deaf. Highly recommend! Also the fuel gage and voltage output on the front are great features to add on, along with fuel shut off switch.

I bought this for Christmas. Used twice this Winter. Works great. Ran everything I needed it to during 2 power outages. Works on the field to for mobile electricity. Would recommend highly.

I bought this after recent storms caused our power to be out for 36 hours. We were able to save all of the food in our deep freezer and refrigerator as well as power a light or two. Great peace of mind for the next storm

Good Product

This is the 2nd Champion Generator I have owned. The first one held up pretty well and I had no problems for at least 5 - 6 years. Unfortunately, I'm already having to file a warranty claim on the new one after only 1 year.

Nice Prize but Needs More Detail

Well, I shouldn't complain as I won mine at a County emergency prep expo and haven't set it up yet. Reason for 4-stars is based on lack of detail in parts drawings. On opening, found a bolt and flange hex nut loose in box. Unsure where it goes. Also, since the unit doesn't come with wheels, I found that the wheel kit only mentions 8" tires and no info on the width. Given the generator will need to be placed on a lawn, I'm concerned that narrow tires I've seen on other generators will likely make it hard to maneuver the generator. I'm considering installing tires similar to the type used on hand trucks. So, more research needed to find axle pins that will fit into the existing wheel mounts.

Easy to use...co shield works ...had the generator to close to stuff and it shut off properly...so thankful for a good product to protect my house and safe a whole freezer full of food during a power outage due to a tornado recommended product for anyone

Works great, easy to set up

Bought yesterday morning - storm knocked power out the night before. Got it set up and started very easily. Was able to power the freezer so that we did not lose anything. Very nice piece of equipment and very easy to use. Love it.

Easy, Functional, Great Price

I've had to rely on this generator a few times now. As a single mom of two, and only 5'2 100lbs, I was concerned I'd have no idea how to set it up, start it, or maintain it. That has not been the case at all. Easy instructions, pull start was as easy as pushing a button, maintenance has been easy and storage is pretty much common sense. My only gripe is that it's a little heavy, and, in hindsight, I should've opted for the one with wheels. But at the price point, it was unmatched, and I overdid my research.
