The Bosch PR20EVS Colt electronic variable-speed palm router combines power, precision and versatility in a small-sized tool. It has a 1.0 HP, 5.6 Amp motor that spins at a variable speed of 16,000 to 35,000 RPM. The variable speed dial is conveniently mounted on top of the tool body. The router features Constant Response circuitry, which maintains a consistent speed by detecting heavy loads and increasing power to maintain the selected RPM. It features soft-start circuitry, which reduces startup torque. Additionally, depth adjustment is simple; just align and lower the motor and then lock the router in position with the clamping level. Micro-fine adjustments are equally effortless, thanks to the wheel on the back of the router's base. It accepts standard 1/4 In. bits for flexibility, with an impressive max cutter diameter of 1-5/16 In. The motor housing has a palm-shaped, rubber over-molded grip that allows for comfortable operation. And the included rugged aluminum fixed base is durable, solid and precise.

I see a consistent theme here : this thing won't hold the depth that you set it at. That means that it's useless and a complete waste of money.

Great router for it's size

I've used this router for roughly 8 years. I also have others that I use for bigger projects. This palm router has come in handy many many times. It's my go to when I work on light projects or on-site calls. It's very versatile for it's size. The biggest issue I have is the router kept loosing the depth setting. I've adjusted the locking nut on the clasp and still had issues. I ended up using a large hose clap that actually worked better. Now I'm looking to repair the router. The threads on the router body made of soft aluminum have stripped and the depth screw no longer works. It is very difficult to get the fine adjustments needed.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Depth Adjustment is NOT Reliable

This router is, overall, a good product except for one thing that I consider extremely important, that is, the depth adjustment. The adjustment mechanism and process gives the impression that it is precise. You loosen the adjustment "collar" with a thumb lever, you turn the motor a slight turn to unlock it, you set your depth, turn the motor back to lock it, and then you tighten the collar with the thumb lever. Simple enough. BUT, the depth adjustment changes when you tighten the collar. It is maddening. It makes it very difficult to get a reliable adjustment. And, this is either a designed "feature" or Bosch realized it and decided to just live with it because the Depth Adjustment Instructions include a paragraph that says, "Note that the depth of the motor and bit may shift very slightly when the clamping lever is closed. Re-adjust depth setting as needed." That's easy to say, but if you are trying to, say, mortise a door for a hinge, and you want the hinge to be flush with the door, you can measure and try to set the depth of the router. But when you close the clamping lever, it MAY shift by, maybe, 1/16th inch. Then what do you do, try to re-adjust and try again? You can, but the depth will be unpredictable.
I am going to try to return the router. I do not know if I will be successful.
