While the container is labeled as holding up to 40 lbs, it is not possible for a 40lb. bag of dog food to fully be emptied into this container as it will spill out when the door/lid is opened. I do like these though. I’ll call it a happy little accident since I would not have liked a larger bin taking up more space. We got two of them. One for cat food and one for dog food. Will be ordering one more for that 40lb bag of dog food that doesn’t function well in one container. Will also order one for bird seed because, you know, you gotta have symmetrical even stacks of storage containers. Minus one star for the not so 40lb storage capacity but overall I’m happy with these stackable bins.

Very nice, easy to use. However, it does NOT hold the advertised weight of product. I'd say it holds maybe 20-25# of food maximum. It may vary on the size of the food you are using to store it, I don't know. I used it for large breed puppy food. We ended up ordering the 65# version to hold 35# of food with plenty of room left over.
