Q: is the product water proof and rat proof

  • A: Rat/ mouse proof yes but water proof I can not answer that. I use these to store my farm food in. One for horse. One for chick food. One for chicken layer food. I have them to keep from feeding rodents. Not having food closed up will them attract more to eat free food.

Q: Is there similar style, but larger? I am thinking of making an outside shelter for a cat that has a door and depth to protect from cold weather.

Q: Are these air tight?

2 Answers
  • A: We keep our 40lb bags of dog food in them, in the house. Our dogs eat separate food, so it takes a few weeks to get thru 40lbs, the containers do keep the food fresh, and keeps bugs out, doesn't even attract bugs-- as long as you make sure the door closes! Ours will actually snap shut if you push alittle. I would call them air tight for that style of purpose, but wouldn't guarantee with any outside type storage....

folded like a cheap suit

I already had three of these containers that are several years old and they worked out very well, I just bought another one at Tractor Supply. I used it for chicken feed and stacked another on top of it also chicken feed, both at three quarters full. The next morning I open the door and to my surprise the new container was smashed down and the door was actually disfigured. I popped out the dents the best I could (still has dents in the corners) and put the new weak one on top of the old one . I tested the thickness of the new to the old one and the old ones seem a lot thicker . I have been using the old ones for years and stacked on top of each other with no problem. Resulting being that the new ones are using inferior materials to manufacture.

Poor customer service and support; weak door hinge

Had for maybe 3 months and the tab broke on one of the doors. I tried contacting the company to get a replacement door so the whole thing wouldn't be wasted and haven't been able to contact anyone. Someone else had the same problem - it's an unfortunate waste of resources, that's for sure.

Horrible quality

Inwish I wouldn't have spent the money. I have them on a patio, outside, and covered from the elements. They aren't even full and they collapse. The quality isn't worth the money spent.
