Q: I’m new at this canning thing, but...Mason lids automatically seal once the jar is cooled. I used Ball lids and seems once cooled you have to press the center to seal??

- A: Hi, thanks for this great question! We recommend that you always follow a tested recipe and current guidelines for safe home canning. After processing in a Water Bath or Pressure Canner per the tested recipe, allow the jars to completely cool for 12-24 hours. Once the jars are cool, press down on the lid to test the seal. The lids should not move at all, the center will be concave if the lids are securely sealed. We hope this helps, please contact our Consumer Care Team if you need assistance.
