Works great, but you will need a cheater pipe.

This is a nice idea for the alternative folks that hate digging post holes for mailbox posts. Just a few whacks to get in level and plumb and then just thread it into the ground. Once turning, the size of the threads increase but so does the resistance from the ground. Never fear! this is easily over come by the ol' knuckle buster 3000 (a.k.a. cheater pipe). You know, the other mythical disregarded piece of pipe that is to short for plumbing projects but long enough to help in some automotive scenarios. For the times in which you are looking to either completely shear a bolt in half, round the corners out of existence or slip off the frozen object using fully force for removal only to bust your knuckles.

Worked like a charm

I am a 78 year old woman who needed a new mailbox post. Saw this and thought that was what I needed. I did need an extra pipe to get it all the way in, I lack about 1 1/2" from the base. The re-rod that came with it is basically U shaped now. I really couldn't be happier as I wasn't able to dig that deep a hole with a post hole digger.

Better than I imagined!

I used this to put my mailbox up after the post got broken on it. I just sawed off the end of the existing post, slid it in and screwed it in. The bolts aren't super easy to get going, you definitely need to take a drill to it first, but it's easy to assemble and STURDY!!!

Not what I was sold

The product came, and it was green powder coated and not galvanized. Galvanized is a higher-quality finish that will last longer. I trusted the product to be as described and needed it within a timeframe to get my mailbox up to receive mail. Now I am stuck not knowing what to do.

No, I do not recommend this product.
