It also provides essential electrolytes that fish need to reach peak coloration and vitality. These electrolytes may be lost each time you perform a partial water change, and will need to be replenished.     First off I do not have a salt water tank. I have a gold fish tank. When initially setting up the tank, I was told to add aquarium salt . I did that at the initial set up and now I add 1 tbs of salt at water changes to keep my goldfish happy and the water not slimy or smelly. It must be working cause Moshoo( lionhead goldfish) has been happy and thriving in his tank for 8 years. When I got him he was the size of a quarter, now he is 6 inches long!

    Yes, I recommend this product.
