Special Precautions

Amantadine should not be used in pets with kidney disorders, seizures, behavioral conditions, liver disease, congestive heart disease, untreated glaucoma, pregnant, or nursing. This drug should not be administered alongside Trimethoprim-sulfa (antibiotic) or quinidine (heart medicine). Thiazide diuretics can reduce amantadine's excretion.

Side Effects

Possible side effects of Amantidine include diarrhea, gas, and irritation. Administering Amantidine alongside antihistamines can result in dry mouth, problems urinating, or a raised heart rate.
