- A: Hi Wesley111, Thanks for your query into our Adjust-A-Gate AG60-36 Gate Kit you have seen at Tractor Supply. We do take pride in the engineering and testing that we hold to high standards in our industry and our gates are the number one best selling gate in its market. We do the following lab testing - open/close cycling, installation cycling (install/uninstall), temperature/weathering exposure and more. We have had one of our Sales Engineers stand and bounce up and down on the frame and he is 250lbs (as the gate's pickets were partially installed). Although we do not suggest that you attempt this in the use case of a real install for safety concerns - we will back our product up to a 250lb load capacity rating. Most of our customer installs are wood installs with a lighter treated wood - 2x4 and 1x4 for framing & pickets. The metal framing (without wood) of the AG60-36 does weigh 24lbs - so please factor that into the total load weight of what you are thinking to install. To expand the slide bars to the full eight feet is. Really limiting the strength of the product and the bars should be longer.

We design our kits to work well with DIY homeowners who have up to 96" width gate opening with the AG60 you purchased. The 96" will need to include the clearance for hardware as that is included in the width dimension. Bought the gate up to 96 inches and needed almost all of it.
The steel framing is solid and hopefully should hold up during the winter when we have 90+ mph winds.
