The Weigh Safe 2 in. to 2-5/16 in. Clam Shell Converter is meant to convert a 2 in. tow ball to a 2-5/16 in. tow ball. This converter can be used on virtually every 2 in. tow ball on the market. The stainless steel construction of the clam shell converter provides long-lasting durability. The maximum gross towing weight of the converter is 10,000 lb, and the maximum tongue weight is 1,500 lb.

U Haul trucks only have a 2” ball so if you want to pull your own trailer with the U Haul and it’s a 2 5/16” hitch you need to use this.

I had high hopes for this item, since I frequently need to change from 2" to 2-5/16 tow balls, and this looked like it'd save a lot of time and hassle. Item description says "This converter can be used on virtually every 2 in. tow ball on the market." But when I get it, the instructions explain that it is not compatible with any tow ball with a rounded top, which is of course what I had. So I acquired a brand new flat-topped Reese 2" ball, and guess what? It doesn't fit that either. So while it presumably works with some 2" tow balls, it's far from universal, and there's no obvious way to determine which ones will work other than trial and error. So much for saving time and hassle.

2 to 2 5/16 adapter

Bought this as a recommentation of my coworker Robert. I was facing a 800 mile road trip with my 16ft airstream in tow. GOD has been good to me and my Chevy Express He keeps her runnin for me even, when a little doubt creeps in. Bought the adapter just in case my old girl got tired on the road. And i would have to rent a uhaul. GOD is good we made it. :))

Best invention ever

Having multiple trailers always was time consuming changing from one size ball to the other. I've used this converter 3 times since it arrived and I love it. I loaned my trailer to a friend with a 2" ball and he is going to order one. I picked weigh safe over the others advertised as it appears to be a legitimate business not an off shore seller.

Needed for a camper vacation, came 4 weeks later. Tried to cancel the order when it didn't come in time, no success. Item seems to be of good quality I just won't be able to use it now.
