Sea Holly makes for a fascinating choice for the garden. Their leaves and blossoms have a unique look all their own and grow in a range of growing conditions. Their silvery-blue-green stems produce blue cones surrounded by silvery - blue bracts which bloom throughout the summer. These amazing plants are drought and deer tolerant, water wise and attract butterflies like few other plants do. Also, they make for good dried flowers.
Eryngium Jos Eijking, also commonly known as Sea Holly is the tallest with the largest flowers of the commercially available Sea Hollys. Their eye-catching striking blue stems and flowers create intense interest in the summer to the mid-fall garden. The flowers are long lasting, turning brighter as they mature during the blooming season. Use to attract wildlife, plant in gravel areas, beds and borders, coastal and cottage gardens and grow as cut flowers. Much architectural interest.Ships to 48 contiguous US states, plus the District of Columbia, Except ID

Great Color

The Blue Sea Holly Ornamental Plant for Plantcetera is a very nice plant. I was able to get it in the ground at the end of Spring and I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom in the summer.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Growing well after 3-4 weeks

I ordered these roots because of the absolutely beautiful blue 24 inch tall flowers they’ll grow into. I ordered and received 3 roots to plant. The instructions were to plant them 12-24 inches apart 1.5”-2” deep, in a sunny spot. It would have been great to have a bit more illustration. The roots themselves were about 6+ inches long and it wasn’t clear if the top “stalk” part (an additional 3 inches) should be considered part of the roots and covered with soil or not. Two of the roots arrived with a tiny bit of green at the top of a long hairy core so it was easier to guess how deep to plant (and which side was up). One of the plants looked like a dead stalk at the top with no green. The two roots/plants that started out with a little bit of green are doing quite well and have grown about 8-10 inches after 3-4 weeks of rain and sunshine. One of the things it says about these perennial flowers is they’re drought resistant. That’s a good thing as we are heading into our typically very dry Texas summer months. Another reason I was interested in these flowers is because they’re known to attract butterflies and other pollinators (and possibly deer resistant). One of the three roots/plants doesn’t appear to be growing at all so far. I’m guessing it may not develop this year. Maybe next? If you love dried flowers these can also make beautiful dried flower arrangements later on after the blooms are finished. I’m am very excited about the 2 plants that are doing well and can’t wait for them to become the beautiful flowers in the pictures, spreading and coming back year after year! I’ve read these are especially easy to grow. So if you love the look of these flowers and know how to plant roots, I’d recommend giving them a try.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Only one root made it

I am giving three star because out of three roots only one is making leaves. One was dead on arrival and the second one I put in the ground but it doesn't show any signs of life. I know it is hard to send plants via mail. I just want to tell my experience, so maybe there would be improvement in how the roots are wrapped or something that preserve them better

Yes, I recommend this product.

roots look healthy

I am excited to see how these grow. The 3 roots appear healthy. They weren't too dry nor soggy. They came in a plastic opaque green bag. I am excited to see how they grow in our Central TX dirt and heat and how tolerant they are of low water as we typically only run our sprinkler once a week to help conserve water.

Yes, I recommend this product.
