The Van Zyverden Bleeding Hearts Gold Heart is a golden leaved form of the common pink Bleeding Heart with which most gardeners are familiar. These Gold Heart garden plants are also very similar in culture, characteristics, and garden uses. They are a good combination for hostas and ferns which begin to fill in as the Bleeding Heart begins to die back. This variety of the Bleeding Heart outdoor flowering plants was formally known as Dicentra spectabilis, and they flower in late spring. The flowers are heart shaped, hence its common name and appearance of a bleeding heart, making them one of the best flowers to plant in spring.
