After buying two of the 36" version and reworking them for my personal use, I opted for this Tall Version for a conversion to a straight walking/hiking stick. I cut off the Crook/Hook at 58" so as to leave a straight hiking stick. Used left over Crook/Hook as a heavy duty coat hook in the mud room. I then sanded it down, stained it with two coats of dark walnut, rubbed it out with five coats of linseed oil, drilled a hole for a hand loop of Para Cord six inches from the top, came down four inches from that and did a sweet Para Cord wrap 14" long (YMMV) . 'You Tube' has many different wraps & knots to explain/teach you want you want/need to know. Para cord readily available on the 'net. Give it a try & git r done.

This is a great item except for one thing: whatever adhesive was used to make that giant price tag sticker should be marketed for its permanence. And of course it made sense to put the price sticker right where you hold the cane. Kinda Velcro’s it right to your hand. Nothing I’ve tried works to remove it. I even scrubbed off part of the finish and it’s still sticky. I hope TSC changes this because it is a great quality shepherds hook detrimentally affected by their price tag.
