Q: Is it pet friendly

1 Answer
  • A: No, RV antifreeze can be toxic to animals, although the level of toxicity depends on the specific type. Ethylene glycol-based antifreeze, similar to automotive antifreeze, is highly toxic and lethal, while the propylene glycol-based antifreeze, commonly used in RVs, is less toxic but can still cause harm. Even "pet-safe" propylene glycol products pose risks if ingested in large quantities, leading to symptoms like vomiting, lethargy, and potential kidney issues or seizures, so it is crucial to store antifreeze securely and prevent pet access.

Q: will this evaporate over time?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, antifreeze (coolant) can evaporate over time, particularly in hot weather, although the rate is usually very slow and a small amount of evaporation is considered normal; if you notice a significant drop in coolant level without visible leaks, it could indicate a problem with your cooling system.
