Topiramate Tablet is an anticonvulsant medication indicated for the management of seizures. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other anticonvulsant medications to enhance seizure control. To help reduce seizure activity, topiramate works to block repetitive nerve stimulations. It's sold in strengths of 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg or 200 mg and is suitable for use in cats or dogs.How it Works
Topiramate works by blocking repetitive nerve stimulations, thus reducing seizures in dogs and cats.
Special Precautions
Keep away from children and animals. This drug should not be used in animals with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug, or pets with impaired liver or kidney function. It should be used with caution in pregnant or nursing pets. Topiramate may interact with other medications such as amitriptyline, acetazolamide, dichlorphenamide, lamotrigine, phenytoin, and valproic acid. Consult with your veterinarian to determine if other drugs your pet is receiving could interact with this drug.

Side Effects
While generally safe and effective when prescribed by a veterinarian, topiramate can cause side effects in some animals. One of the most common side effects of Topiramate is sedation, which is typically transient. Additional side effects may include lack of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, and ataxia (stumbling).
