SOG Knifes are high quality knives

SOG makes very high quality knives. I wish they were around 30 years ago. I deployed with my bayonet, an Air Force Survival knife and a Swiss Army knife. After I left the Military I donated my Swiss Army knife to a young officer about to go through Ranger School.

Field use

One major issue I have with GRN is that more often than not, there is movement related to the cutting edges of the blade. That is the deciding factor, to me, for the high end spectrum of knives that I purchase - there simply should not be a potential for rattle in a covert situation. As evidenced by the attached photos, I have utilized a combo sheath configuration for the Pentagon FX and FX covert with a belt clip from previous purchases to facilitate usage and draw capability. The included belt clips, in my opinion, are substandard and move too much to offer a smooth and timely removal when seconds count in a combat situation. Additionally, the adjustable retention - while being a nice feature, is not conducive to an "on the fly" situation as the adjustment is only easily available from the rear of the sheath and the sheath is not reversible. Great concept - needs a rework for actual field use and a loose blade is definitely not optimal. Overall I would recommend this purchase, however, be prepared to modify to your specific needs and maybe consider aftermarket custom kydex options.

Yes, I recommend this product.
