Wonderful knife. I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 if I could for two reasons: the kick out is nice, but it doesn't work every time unless you REALLY kick it out. The other is the sharpness out of the box. It sharpened up nicely and has held an edge without issue so far, but it was a touch dull out of the box. For a knife of this price I would've liked a keener edge out of the box, but that's easily remedied! Overall I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nicer EDC. Fits great in my medium sized hands!

Tremendous and brilliantly functional

I have had this knife about three weeks now and am immensely impressed with its design, its 'heft' in the hand' its sturdiness and the thickness of the blade, and its opening action, smooth and flawless in all three options (XR, kick, and thumb hole). The stiffness of the opening wears offf very quickly, so that the initial 'challenge' of opening using the thumb hole is overcome through time and practice. As to what I use it for, I use if for everything is the answer! It has such utility, as it is not too big for simple tasks (unlike my Trident AT, TF2-CP black, or camoflage, and my Seal Pup Elite), and deals with most quick jobs really satisfactorily - chopping, cutting, opening packaging, etc. And for larger DIY jobs, it is just as handy and useful, as the blade is such that it has both tremendous strength and purchase, due to the modified tanto design. Outdoors it is a delight to use on all camping and hiking trips (so far), and much easier to reach for than the bigger SOG knives I have. I haven't used it in hunting or fishing yet, so it may be that these are activities where the Kiku XR will be less functional than another (Trident AT, or Seal Pup Elite), but I have prepared fish and cleaned them using it. So I would highly reccommend it!

Probably one of the best knives that I own… About this knife about three weeks ago and it hasn’t left my pocket since then… Extremely sharp right out of the box and built like a tank. I would definitely recommend it to anyone…
