Simplicef (Cefpodoxime Proxetil) Tablet is an FDA-approved cephalosporin antibiotic that's effective for treating skin infections in dogs. It may used for treating urinary tract, ear and respiratory tract infections as well. Available in 100 mg and 200 mg strengths. Simplicef is an effective treatment against most gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

Side Effects
While adverse reactions with cefpodoxime are rare, you could notice diarrhea, vomiting, or decreased appetite. If your pet exhibits any of these reactions, notify your veterinarian.

Store at room temperature (15-30°C).
Cefpodoxime Proxetil
Give this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian. Simplicef should be given with food to increase absorption in the body. Keep plenty of water available for your pet to drink. Do not give Simplicef at the same time as giving antacids such as Maalox or other stomach acid reducers such as Tagamet as this may decrease the absorption of Simplicef. Give all of the Simplicef even if your pet appears to be better. Symptoms may improve before the infection is completely treated. The usual dose of Simplicef in dogs is 2.3-4.5mg/pound, given by mouth, once a day for 5 to 7 days or 2 to 3 days beyond the cessation of clinical signs, up to a maximum of 28 days.
