Bought this model 1298 to charge an slightly low car battery, of roughly 35 Ah for a 4 cylinder auto with no high demands (No electric windows, no Audio equipment, and very basic)... Initially, the charger applied about a max 15 volts and INITIALLY commenced the charging "OK"... But, after a couple of hours, it declared "Fully-Charged" and went into "MAINTAINER" Cycle, but after some time, the "Maintaining" voltage applied fell to less than 12.4, more on the vicinity of 12.3 Volts... Thus failing to maintain the battery at a good percentage of the charge, only about 40 to 50% of a truly "full" battery, capable of reliable starts at temperatures around 7 to 10 C (45 to 50 F), which is not really cold at all! Probably the "Maintaining" voltage is too low to avoid getting the battery too low on electrolyte level, I don't know, but this model as delivered, is not able to perform as advertised for even smaller car's batteries. I am going to return it. Engineer w/42 years of experience here.

Used it to top off car batteries. Used it 1 recently to charge a new battery that had drained to 7v and after that it never would connect back to a battery again (tried in vehicle, out of vehicle, new battery, etc). No warranty now so no resolve as nothing can be repaired. 1st charger I have ever had that lasted less than 12 years. Cool system but would recommend buying the longest extended warranty you can! Support line was good but no resolve

This charger will not properly sense anything. I have tried using it numerous times on various batteries and it never works. Save yourself the headache and buy something different!

Use it to charge batteries for a trolling motor on a pontoon; seems to work well - no concerns so far after 2 months of use - I like being able to push the single button while charging to get a message showing the type of battery and percent charged; nice accessories included for occasional use
