Rated 1 out of 5 by from Schumaccher 1.5 Maintainer Failed Purchased in September of 2018 to maintain ATV battery. ATV no start on 4 April 2019. Measured battery voltage at 6.53 VDC with charger still connected. Notice green CHARGED lamp dims on and off. Disconnected charger from AC power source for 10 seconds. Re-connect. Charger amber CHARGING lamp indicated being charged, measure voltage at 8.32 VDC. Returned one hour later, charger green CHARGED lamp pulsing on and off. Measured battery voltage at 7.28 VDC. Repeat seven times with same symptom scenario until last time measured 12.23 VDC. I do not trust this charger.

To charge a battery outside of the vehicle, can i hook it up red to positive and black to negative or do I need something extra?

Asked by: Jo67
Make sure you connect the clamps to the battery first, Red to positive and Black to Negative of the battery and then plug the charger to AC outlet to avoid any sparks or arcs next to the battery. When you complete the charge, unplug the AC cord first then remove the clamps from the battery.

Is this a manual charger or a smart charger. Looking for a manual NOT a smart charger. So can this charger work on a battery that is dead with less then 1-2 volts where a smart charger won't.

Asked by: Melerland7
This model is automatic and smart charger. This charger can work on dead batteries with less than 1V.

Can this be connected to 2 12V flooded batteries to maintain them over the winter.  Both batteries are exactly the same age and brand (bought together).

Asked by: Jon52
For safety reason we don't recommend to charge or maintain 2 batteries in parallel with one charger. The charger will see both batteries as one single battery and if one of them fail then the charger will not know that and end up overcharging the second bbattery.

yellow flashing light indicated charging last night. This morning the green fully charged light AND the red bad battery/wires reversed light was on. Mower started just fine. Why was the red light on if the battery was fully charged?

Asked by: 2doodlesmama
The Red led was on when the battery was fully charged because the battery some how is loosing the charge faster. Make sure you have no loads on the battery.
