1 Answer
  • Rust-OleumSupport
A: We're happy to help, Sam. We do not recommend priming before applying Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint as we do not offer a primer that can withstand the same temperatures. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

Q: Will this Paint turn yellow after it has been heated?, I'm using it on the Headers of My Race Car, is there any tips on the curing process?

1 Answer
  • A: It is a modified silicone coating and does have good color stability once heat cured. The Specialty High Heat paint should be allowed to dry for at least one hour at normal temperatures, and then heat cured for one hour at 450°F.

1 Answer
  • A: We have not tested our High Heat coatings for applications to glass surfaces and therefore cannot recommend this application. If the outside of the glass does not exceed 200°F, which it is unlikely to do, then our Rust-Oleum Universal paint can be used.

Quality high heat paint, be sure to ventilate

I use this on my wood stove top when it gets marred & some rust spots. It covers beautifully and dries fast. There is a high odor and tends to fly in the air when applying. Cover all surfaces not to be painted and have full ventilation when spraying. I apply this inside my house, as my wood stove sits on a stone hearth. So be sure to continue to air the fumes until it's no longer detected.
