Heavy gun but not solid, stress from cocking broke stock screws off, gun literally in 2 pieces, most inaccurate gun I've ever had, I own 2 other rugers. Would like to say scope not durable but couldn't get that far, wild grouping on the bench. Couple pounds of scrap metal.

I’ll preface this with I’ve been shooting for over 40 years and have plenty of experience with air rifles, BB and pellet. I bought the Ruger because I trust the name (I own plenty of rifles, including Ruger) and based on reviews. And yes, maybe I got the last one on the production line at 5:00 on a Friday of a three day weekend. I didn’t even put the included scope on it based on reviews. I tried one of my $400 Leupold 3x9’s, a green laser dot, then open sights. I ran out of dial adjustment on the scope, and even when fixed in a shooting sled was chasing the holes with the green dot. Open sights, I had the rear sight post adjusted so far to the left I felt like I was shooting sideways. Zero consistency, even after shooting 75-100 quality pointed pellets. Took it back and won’t trust my luck with a second one.

This air rifle is an absolute pile of junk. Within a couple hundred rounds, the main bolt behind the trigger guard securing the chassis to the receiver and barrel assembly snapped off flush inside the lug that goes into the receiver, and as a result the entire rear end of the receiver lifted out when I went to open the break action, bending the rear lug and the other 2 front bolts that hold the front end of the receiver to the chassis. I can’t find parts, the lug is a specialty part that Ruger doesn’t appear to even sell, and now the receiver is damaged where the lug and the rear chassis bolt threads in and the rifle went in the trash. How cheap do bolts have to be to shear from the recoil force of a .17 cal air gun? They really can’t spare the 3 extra cents per bolt to use grade 8 hardware. I really enjoy my Ruger rimfire and center fire rifles, I’m not sure what they’re thinking with these airguns or who is making them for Ruger, but I recommend spending the extra $50 and getting a good old 10/22. Save yourself the headache.
