Users aren't using this correctly. Boil 5 cups water. Dip all parts of the feeder into the boiling water for 20 seconds. Kills all bacteria. Add 1 cup sugar to water. Cool. USE a stainless steel funnel. Poor sugar water into feeder WHILE STILL ABOUT 140-160 DEGREES and assemble feeder to seal all parts. The larger well of 38 ounces will last - bacteria free - for many, many weeks without any contamination! Clear glass guarantees visibility of solution... not cloudy? Still going strong!

Would be 5 stars if gasket was not so finicky but as long as you're even s little careful it works great. No leaks, yes the markings make no sense, who cares it's a feeder and a really good looking one.

I like the looks of the feeder but it leaks. I purchased 3 and all 3 leak. I have sugar water all over my railing and porch, I have to clean it every time I fill them up. Very disappointed

The designer of this product obviously never used it! It DOES have a gasket, but you need to tighten it well. The jar embossing makes no sense. Because the jar is CLEAR, you CAN SEE the level. What is more important is when filling the jar: the embossed labels are typed UPSIDE DOWN, and the opposite of what is needed. (see #1,2,3) 4./5. The jar indentation is impossible to grip/hold. The indentation needs to be at least parallel, if not wedged inward. 6. When in FILLING orientation, the hanging bracket prevents the jar from standing upright and being stable. 7./8. the jar filling opening is too small. it could easily be a little larger (with a coordinated mate). All that said, we think it's usable and are giving it a try. THe hummingbirds arrive any day now.
