This whistle does exactly what it claims to do and it is exactly what it claims to be. It absolutely has and adjustable pitch that will absolutely go to ultrasonic range. Other reviewers have said they cannot adjust the pitch, but they are mistaken - they simply do not know how to adjust it. You simply REMOVE the plastic cover, loosen the set screw, adjust the tone screw as you like, tighten the set screw to lock in the desired tone, and replace the cover.
With little effort, I was able to adjust the tone from about F#8 (5920Hz), which is audible to humans, all the way into the ultrasonic range. I personally set mine to A8 (7040Hz) which is audible to humans because I want to hear the sound as well.
Also, do not expect your dog to know what to do when he hears this whistle unless you first properly train him to respond to it which will take efforts on your part. Don't take this whistle out and expect your dog to come running to it - that's not how it works.

They arrived with NO instructions on how to setup for optimal use. Tried to also use youtube and still no actual instructions.

does not go "silent"

It does not matter what adjustment I put it on I can easily without effort here the whistle or the obnoxious noise it makes it's not even really a whistle. Doesn't matter if I blow into it softer or harder or as hard as I can does not matter the setting it does not go silent.
I was actually really looking forward to getting one I can never find one around here and I finally did and it has been a complete let down So now unfortunately I have to waste time to go return it.

Doesn't work for me. Maybe I don't know how to work this thing. But I don't recommend buying this unless you are replacing one that is just like this and you already know how to use it.

Now of course it took a little bit of time but from the first time I blew this whistle with a new dog that I brought home as a rescue when he heard it he immediately stopped barking and howling when he heard it again he stopped barking even longer a few more times after that over the course the next few days and he had almost been completely broken of howling and barking at random whatever in the dark at night by the time my neighbor decided they wanted to take him in I gave the whistle to them and haven't heard much trouble out of him and he's been kept outside.
