I feed this to my inside dogs the livestock guard dogs and the hunting dogs. They all have maintained a good weight have shiney coats and love the taste.

My wife and I started feeding our dogs retriever brand food last year as a cost savings measure because all of the other choices were getting so expensive. We have had nothing bad to say about it, dogs seem to like it as well , even our female who has a tricky stomach and has had issues with most other brands. However the past few months we have been noticing that the food inside the bag is'nt always the same.. sometimes it's large light brown bits.. sometimes it's a mixture of a few different colored pcs.. sometimes it's all small bits. Our dogs have since then had multiple issues with not being able to hold it through the night and we have woken up to large messes in the morning. I currently have 2 50 lb bags at home that are the same, but have undeniably different contents. This is concerning, the ingredients are the same on both bags yet the contents are not. I would like to know exactly how this happens and has been happening for this long.

This is a very dog dependent formula. Of my three dogs, one was perfectly fine eating this, one started licking himself vigorously several months into using this food and now has a wound on his leg due to the vigorous licking, and one started eating poop. So I guess you get what you pay for? I had to cancel my subscription for this food and put them back on their old Purina food, which is just slightly more expensive. I would say be cautious of this product.
