Q: What size cone should I get my 100 lb German shepherd? How do I keep it on him? He can remove a muzzle in 15 seconds.

Q: I have an English Bulldog and he has a hot spot right under his ear almost on his jaw and he keeps digging it, will the cone keep him from being able to dog at it with his back paw?

- A: Our E-Collars are designed to fold and snap to form a cone around the animal’s neck to prevent it from chewing or licking a sensitive area, bandages, wounds or open sore. Good Cone, terrible clips - better once modified

The clear cone itself has held up surprisingly well on my very excitable 8-month-old, 55-lb puppy. The plastic has taken a beating and remained functional even after three full days in the crate while I am at work. (I have moved on to the replacement of identical style after day three due to potentially sharp chewed edges.) The numerous evenly spaced holes along the overlap of this e-collar ensure a proper fit.
The provided plastic clips, however, would NOT reliably keep the cone closed. They popped loose almost immediately. I ended up using 1 clip temporarily to hold the cone in position while assembling it, then secured the overlap through the existing holes with my own ties. That has been dramatically more reliable. (I personally used butcher's twine tripled to secure the shape of the cone and braided butcher's twine to secure the cone to the dog's collar.)
Also, fair warning: on my dog, the cone wasn't technically long enough, but it did prevent him from reaching his own chest.
So, yes, I would buy the cone again. (I bought two and wish I had found this one first; after the vet provided one initially failed, we are currently on cone 3-4) I would NOT rely on the supplied clip system. If you have an active or destructive chewer, inspect the fasteners frequently and have a backup plan.

GREAT PRODUCT FOR DETERMINED DOGS.

After going through a recovery suit, an inflatable collar, and the collar my vet sent home, THIS is the only collar that has kept him from digging at his stitches. It is also not as bulky as the ones you get from the vet and has a soft little liner for around their neck.

Go with a different cone

The cone is really easy to use compared to other cones. However, the clips come out too easily from my dog just running into things. I have to reattach fix the clicks several times a day. One clip has been lost, so we are down to two clips.
