Q: What is the width across the flats on the base of the ball?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Here is the response that we received from the vendor: From what I see in the platform, the width across the flats on the base of the ball for the Reese Towpower 1-7/8-inch chrome hitch ball (Part Number: 7036820) is 1-1/8 inches (as per the nut hex size specification in the details). The nut hex size refers to the size of the wrench or socket required to fit the nut that screws onto the hitch ball. In this case, the nut hex size is 1-1/8 inches, meaning you need a wrench or socket of that size to tighten or loosen the nut on the hitch ball. It’s not the width across the flats of the ball itself but rather the size of the nut that secures it.
