Reviews

RedStone Wood Fuel, Pack of 6, ECOBRICK is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 158.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from I expected Enviro Bricks, but was sold Red Stone I ordered a pallet of what I thought would be Enviro Bricks based on TSC's photo but that was deceptive. There were two other photos of the Red Stone packaging with the SKU# on the package. I paid for the bricks and brought them home to offload. I noticed right off that the bricks were not of uniform size, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN WEIGHT. This might be due to the density of the wood BUT IT COULD ALSO BE DUE TO MOISTURE CONTENT. I used Enviro Bricks last year and the dimensions and weight were consistent throughout and the bricks burned long and hot. I have a few left over and will do a test burn, and hopefully I will be satisfied with the Red Stone. Still, I wish TSC was totally up-front with their product description and had not used the Enviro Brick photo with something from another producer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to split firewood We are mostly limited to pine, pinon and juniper firewood in our part of the country. That produces a lot of creosote, and burns pretty fast. I used this product last winter, and I was very impressed. I store them in between the framing of our garage, so exposure to moisture is not a problem. They light with just a few sticks of fatwood fire starter. Three or four bricks will burn in our wood stove and help heat our house for hours, and with less mess and less creosote.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty Messy and Hard to Light These leave quite a mess as there is lots of loose sawdust when you open the package. I would pefer strapped than wrapped in plastic but then more loose mess. They light pretty slow compared to other brands. Maybe they are denser?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hotter and cleaner than firewood They burn hot, but they need an existing fire to ignite. Otherwise, they smolder. Cleaner and easier to deal with than regular firewood. I use them in both the outdoor wood furnace and the indoor fireplace. Indoors, I set two of them on top of small pieces of firewood, and, if starting a fresh fire, I place one Super Cedar Fire Starter under the grate and light that. In very little time I end up with a growing, hot fire.

Questions & Answers

How many "units" (Packages not individual bricks) per pallet?

What is the best way to lay the bricks to start a fire

Asked by: Toots75
Step 1: Place two Bricks parallel, roughly an inch apart. Step 2: Place a firestarter between the bricks. Step 3: Place two more Bricks across thetop, leaving a small gap between the two top bricks and carefully light the firestarter. These are an extremely dry, 100% hardwood product. For home heating, use only in a well maintained stove or fireplace and control air flow to prevent overheating and extend burn times. These will expand slightly when burning. Do not pack too closely to glass or top. DO NOT OVERFILL! Store only in a dry environment.

Can this product be used in a wood-burning furnace

Asked by: Nomercy733
Yes, Redstone Wood Fuel can be used in any similar application as typical cordwood firewood. They have no added resins, waxes, or other binders - only hardwood fibers and are more dry and will generally burn hotter due to their density and dryness.

How are they packaged, & wrapped? Are they individually shrink wrapped to stay dry, or are they packed loose in a box?

Asked by: UglyBoy55
These are shrink wrapped in packages of 6.

How long is the burn time on these bricks.

Asked by: Pjg69
Due to the wide variety of wood burning appliances and methods of use, we cannot publish a set burn time per package or individual briquette. In general, because they are approximately twice as dense & heavy, and much more dry, as split cordwood, they will burn significantly longer than a similar size piece of cordwood.

These wood bricks which are rated 9,000 - 14,000 btu/lb look very similar to the Redstone 3-pack wood bricks which are rated 8,800 btu/lb. Why are these two products rated so much different when it seems they are very similar except for the brick size?

Asked by: Wilumblack
The 6-pack bricks are 9,000-14,000BTUs for EACH brick. The 3-pack is listed as 8,800BTUs per pound.

Can these bricks be cut and have the same effect. They burn but it cuts the time on burning?

Asked by: Sapsucker
We do not make any recommendations other than the intended use for EnviroBrick, which is that they be burned as they are out of the package.

Can these be used in an outside wood burning stove?  I use mine to heat water and run it into the house for heat and domestic hot water.

Asked by: Shooter bob
This product can be used in any similar application as typical cord wood firewood. They have no added resins, waxes, or other binders - only hardwood fibers - and are more dry and will generally burn hotter due to their density and dryness. The amount of heat & flame is dependent on the size & type of fireplace or other wood burning appliance.
