The Red Lion 3.8 qt. 6 HP Gas-Powered 2 in. Aluminum Semi-Trash Pump is ideal for high-volume transfer and dewatering. This semi-trash pump can handle liquid slurries, including sand, pebbles and suspended solids less than 1/2 in. in dia. This engine driven aluminum pump includes a steel roll cage for easy portability to and from job sites. The pump has a 2 in. MNPT intake and discharge and a 3.8 qt. fuel tank. With an EPA certified construction, this semi-trash pump offers peace of mind.

Great Pump for the Price

I bought this online and had it shipped to local TSC store. Had never heard of a Red Lion engine but it looks very similar to a Honda. Fired right up and ran like a champ. Three hours on a tank of fuel. I am very happy with the pump. Had to buy a couple small extensions to allow connections to the inlet and outlet due to poor clearance with the frame. Small problem easily fixed.

Here's the deal.
I bought this pump a couple of years ago to water my garden. Over the last 2 years, I've used it maybe 12 times. I've NEVER run it dry. It's kept dry and I always cleaned it after each use. Now, it works about 20% of the time, if at all. The engine is ok. The actual "pump" is a hunk of junk. It's impossible to prime and a complete hassle. I'm not sure why Red Lion is the only brand TSC carries. My gut said pass on it from the get-go but I bought it anyway. Now I wish I'd listen to my "gut". I"m on line now, looking for a replacement pump. You can bet it won't be a Red Lion.

The motor started on the first pull and it done the job of pumping water. This is the 2nd one that I have used. Be careful to not get a stone in the chamber because it will tear a hole in the aluminum. Also make sure you empty the pump chamber of water before the winter freeze.
