The spray gun also includes an external mix nozzle for using primer. This bleeder type basic spray gun can be used with a tankless compressor. This spray gun is not recommended for auto finishing. - A: The Porter Cable Basic Spray Gun is designed and tested to spray latex, oil based paints, fast-drying laquers and enamels. There are many different paints, all having different viscosity levels. The owner's manual states mix material according to the manufacturer’s instructions, adding thinner if needed. Mixture should be smooth and easily pourable. Lumps or foreign objects should be removed by straining through a suitable paint filter or cheesecloth.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: Will this work with a 6 gallon compresor ?

- A: This spray gun requires 2.4 SCFM @ 40 PSI to operate. If the air delivery of the 6 gallon compressor is above this, you will be able to accomplish the task.3 years agoHelpful?

- A: I am not too sure what o-ring you are referring to, because I never got one. I did end up using an o-ring between the quick connect air fitting and the 1/4 npt threads on the gun, from my own supply. The supplied quick connect didn't seem very tight. That is why I used an o-ring. Does it fit over the 1/4 npt threads on the gun?5 years agoHelpful?

Beyond Poor Product

Just like most 1 star rating, this is probably THE biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. I have had this for less than 5 hours First attempt, it splatters despite making all kinds of adjustments (the amount of liquid adjustment, to pressure regulation adjustment). Also had a difficult time puitting the tank on. Cleaned it up and set it aside. Tried for the second time, the tank would not seat what-so -ever all of a sudden. Thought it seated, created a HUGE mess. Come to find out the tube for it was too long as it had snapped off when putting the tank on the second time.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This sprayer is garbage. It's won't even spray right with paint it splatters. That's with a regulator.

Needed to stain my deck, but didn’t want the laborious task of using a brush and sponge. What had taken two full days in the past with said tools I choose the Porter Gable sprayer. Four hours later my deck was stained flawlessly.

Worked fair the first use. The second use, had trouble controlling paint spray trying to paint my bathroom ceiling. Would have taken many hours to do a ceiling,

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to see that this PORTER CABLE Basic Spray Gun did not entirely meet your expectations.
This spray gun does need to stay fairly level to siphon the paint into the nozzle properly. It may be difficult to spray a ceiling with this gun for that reason. If it is not level, the siphon tube will not pull the paint upwards into the nozzle.
