For treating skin conditions, this Apotex Pentoxifylline ER Tablet can be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Pentoxifylline promotes healing for dermatological conditions that won't heal on their own. Examples include atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, pyoderma, inflammation and ulcers. Often prescribed to horses, cats and dogs, Pentoxifylline helps increase blood flow and improve circulation to the affected area. Available in single extended-release tablets. How it Works
Pentoxifylline is a drug in the xanthine derivatives class. These medications are formulated to inhibit phosphodiesterase, a multi-functional bodily enzyme that regulates blood vessels and the tone thereof. It is frequently used in dogs with skin ulcers (because it decreases inflammation) and dogs with decreased blood flow in specific areas.
