A: I came the site to express my frustration and dissatisfaction with the Papermate Sharpwriter #2 mechanical pencils I've bought in the last year. The lead breaks very easily. The depth of the graphite is a faint and very light gray, bordering on being illegible and nearly invisible. It is NOT the deep, defined, dark gray it once was. While they are cheaper than other mechanical pencils I won't be buying them again. I am just throwing away money when I do so. If anyone an recommend a better option, please do so. Thank you!

It uses a spring-like tip that advances the lead when you twist the eraser end, but it can’t be opened or reloaded with new lead. If you're asking about reloading the C1 0.5mm mechanical pencil, that’s a different model—not the SharpWriter. For typical refillable 0.5mm pencils, here’s how you usually reload them: 1. Pull off the eraser or top cap. 2. Drop 1–3 new 0.5mm HB leads into the inner tube. 3. Replace the eraser or cap. 4. Click to advance the lead. If your specific C1 model has a unique mechanism and you're not seeing how it opens, feel free to share the photo—some minimalist designs hide the refill point in unusual ways. A: I agree the new pencils are not the same. They are horrible. Once again a great product bites the dust. I am so disappointed. I have been to every store in town and cannot find the original. Not sure which executive made this decision but they should be gone - like the pencils.
