This is a well-designed, well-built offset smoker. It arrived at my local TS in good time and in good condition. The people at my local TS were helpful. They unpacked it for me and helped me load it. I had no trouble getting it cleaned and seasoned, and my first smoke in it -- spareribs -- was excellent. As is, it easily fits six racks of St. Louis cut spareribs. It has a baffle to even the heat distribution. The heat distribution was better than in my old offset smoker but it's still considerably cooler on the end opposite the firebox. Many owners offer advice about modifications to improve heat distribution in this online. I plan to try a DIY smokestack extension.
You can't disassemble this to make it fit in the back of a medium-sized SUV like I have. It is all welded. So you want a pick up or a trailer to transport it. My local TS rented me a light trailer to haul it home. The trailer rental was only $15 and the trailer had a tailgate ramp so I could easily unload the smoker by myself.

My delivery came sooner than expected by several days! The delivery company was very accommodating in assisting with putting this heavy large crate into the garage. After uncrating, I found the Pecos Smoker to be in perfect shape. I was a bit concerned since it came from Texas.

Built to Last

Very well built and will last a lifetime. The solid steal and hand done welds are proof that this grill is build for longevity. I foresee this grill being the last one I will ever buy.
The large manufacturers can take notes from this company. Thick steal, strong welds.
