Cyclosporine is thought to act as an immunomodulator when it is ophthalmically applied for use in immune-mediated diseases like KCS (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) or CSK (chronic superficial keratitis).
Special Precautions
- Keep out of reach of animals and children.
- When switching to Optimmune from another CSK or KCS therapeutic agent, be mindful that efficacy will not be immediately apparent. It can take many days to a few weeks before the effects are noted and previous therapies may be stopped. Relapse can occur with immediate withdrawal from prior therapies,
- Facial nerve paralysis that involves palpebral reflex loss

Active Ingredient: Cyclosporine.
Not for oral administration. Apply a 1/4 in. strip of Optimmune ointment to the affected eye(s) every 12 hours. The ointment may be placed directly on the cornea or into the conjunctival sac.
