The MaxPower Universal Power Rake/Dethatcher Blade for 16 in. Cut Mower includes (1) 16 in. universal power rake/dethatcher blade with springs and sizing washers. This mower dethatcher blade measures 16 in. L and 2-1/4 in. W with a 1 in. center hole. It also includes a cover washer and 6 reducing washers in the following sizes: 3/8 in., 7/16 in., 9/16 in., 1/2 in., 5/8 in. and 3/16 in. Max Power blades are manufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications.

- A: Hello and thank you for your question. Depending on how deep and healthy the root it, it may be possible for the dethatcher blade to pull them up. If the root system is weak and near the surface the vertical blades can grab and pull them up. If they are deeper and healthier it may be a bit more difficult to pull up. Even with all the adapter washers this did not exactly fit my B & S motor spindle. I was able to get it tight enough to work. It ate up most of the grass- wheel barrow loads of it... and left lots of untouched thatch which has to be removed before any grass seed would grow. This "dethatcher blade" might be better at bare dirt preparation.

Works OK, one downside

It worked OK for raking. It was a bit too small (16 inch) for for my 22 inch mower. The smaller blade could not generate sufficient momentum to start the mower easily. Once the mower started, the rake worked as expected. When finished raking I put the 22 inch mower blade back on. The mower started with one pull, as usual. I suggest the manufacturer make a second, longer, version or make the 16 inch blade heavier, especially toward the outside. I think I'll do a little red-neck engineering on the rake before using it next time, just to give it a little more heft.
Yes, I recommend this product.
