Massimo MB100 Minibike

I live in a rural mountain town in northern New Mexico. Cops tend to look the other way around here concerning minibikes. Unfortunately the stock seat, of which is very well made, and very well padded has emblazoned on its side MB-100. If cops saw that they might have issues with this little machine, and so had removed seat, replaced it with a old “Waffle butt” Harley spring seat, to hide this misnomer! Voided warranty! This mini bike, shipped to Tractor Supply, partially assembled for my behalf came with some issues. The main bolt, holding front forks onto frame came without the nuts, or washers. The long bolt traveling through steering head as well, probably a 11 millimeter bolt, as well had mashed threads , of which a nut could not be threaded onto. The threads are the very fine type, which is gonna be difficult to find to replace. At present an running this little bike, with a washer slipped over bolt, and a small stainless steel hose clamp, until can contact Tractor supply for replacement of bolt, nuts and washers. As well, the forward of engine chain guard was barely held in place by one bolt, Not even finger tight. In fact, that forward chain & centrifugal clutch cover can only be held in place with one bolt, as none of the other holes will line up! In my case i don’t want that forward chain / centrifugal clutch cover to be there, as it interferes with chain maintenance, oiling. When rolling bike around, fresh out of crate, i saw that factory chain adjustment was tightened way too tight on the tensioner. In pushing bike slowly, i saw that nylon chain tensioner being chewed up by the chain! Had backed off tensioning of chain adjuster all the way, and chain was still too tight. After About 3 hours of use on this Minibike, now chain is loose enough to begin tightening tension adjuster. Be advised, that without front chain / centrifugal clutch cover, that potential danger exists riding this bike for those riding it bare foot, or with sandles! Beware. Had applied choke once after fuel tank was filled, pulled starter and the little machine roared into life on first pull! I was stoked! Upon twisting throttle however, engine would not accelerate at all. Had to readjust throttle cable. Upon running bike the return spring tension was so tight, that i could barely twist the throttle grip. Before going 1/2 mile my hand was worn out, had to return home for further adjustments. I have worked construction my entire life, have very strong hands, and yet return spring tension as stock nearly crippled my hand. Tractor supply touts top speed of 15 MPH, and had figured this bike was low geared, and therefore enabled to climb any hill for my weight. Not at all the case. Had seen an additional tiny high tension return spring was added, and was forced to remove that spring, which has now voided warranty again. No problem, am mechanically motivated to upgrade, bike is otherwise solid enough for me to void warranty. With this upgrade, the little bike will go about 30 MPH. I weigh 115 Lbs, and bike is so high geared for my weight that i must walk besides bike, engine running, to get up my steep driveway. Too much weight on this high geared machine will burnout one’s automatic centrifugal clutch! Seriously, i do not know that a 50 Lb. child can ride this machine from a start up any steep hill, as engine is lugging out. Had bike been lower geared I’d have rated bike to be 5 stars. Had seen pictures of this machine, and noted it had front suspension, and front forks were slightly raked forward enabling better handling than most other mini bikes, those three features sold me on this model, as well as tubeless tires! Thought low gearing would pull my driveway however. The instruction manual says tires should be inflated to 5 PSI inflation? I look at tires, and they read “24 PSI” another warranty void on my part.Thing rides like a rock with my 115Lbs. Am apprehensive of lowering tire pressure with my weight though. On the road the little bike rides pretty nice. Although tires say “Off-road “ only, these tires do amazing on pavement, and packed dirt roads. If you are mechanically minded this inexpensive little machine is a real good value in purchase.

Yes, I recommend this product.
