- A: Yes, due to the design of the blades (tines) and the light weight of the machine, the tiller digs into the soil by using resistance. Its not necessary to continuously walk backward, many users find it comfortable to stand in one spot, allow the tiller to walk forward and then slowly pull it backwards, allowing it to dig into the soil.5 years agoHelpful?

I had a little trouble with some of the lock nuts but finally got them tight . Love it's small size. Used it for the holes for my trees before I planted them. Makes the soil clump free. of course, it worked up a nice garden. I got the extra tines and they made very nice rows and hills. love it
