Q: do you need a sleeve for the in-the-wall air conditioner or does it come included

  • A: As with any in-the-wall air conditioner regardless of brand or manufacturer, the LG 8,000 BTU Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner - White, Model # LT0816CER MUST be installed with a sleeve. The sleeve provides structural support, prevents the unit from falling out, and helps maintain proper airflow. It is essential for the unit to be securely fastened within the sleeve to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The sleeve must be purchased separately. You can purchase the LG Thru-the-Wall Air Conditioner 26" Wall Sleeve, Model # AXSVA1, but you will also need to purchase the LG Thru-the-Wall Air Conditioner Architectural Grille, Model # AXRGALA01, or you can purchase the LG Thru-the-Wall Air Conditioner Wall Sleeve with Stamped Aluminum Grille, Model # AXSVA4...^Ivan.

Q: Can this unit operate as a heater also, or is it just an AC unit?

  • A: Hi Chuck! The LT0816CER wall air conditioner is designed solely as an air conditioner and cannot operate as a heater. If you are in the market for a wall air conditioner with heating capability, we recommend looking into the LT1033HNR and LT1233HNR models. These models offer both cooling and heating functions. If you have any questions about these models, please ask here or send us a private message on social media @LGUSSuipport with your contact details. ^Anthony

Q: I have an old through the wall air conditioner at dinning room and master bedroom and I want to replace them with new air conditioner. The size of the old frame is H 18” and W 26”. I noticed that most of your AC are smaller. How do will I solve it?

  • A: What brand or manufacture is the old through-the-wall air conditioner that you are looking to replace? Like all through-the-wall air conditioners, the LG 8,000 BTU 115v Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner, Model # LT08126CER has to be installed in an appropriately sized wall sleeve. If you intend to use your existing wall sleeve, you will need to measure its dimensions. All wall sleeves used to mount the new air conditioner must be in good structural condition and have a rear grille to securely attach to the sleeve, or rear flange that serves as a stop for the Air Conditioner. We strongly recommend the removal of the old wall sleeve and the installation of a new LGE Wall Sleeve. If you decide to keep the existing wall sleeve, you will have to redirect the louvers at the back of the wall sleeve. You can visit our support page for this air conditioner at https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LT0816CER.AWYAUSH and download the instruction manual for the air conditioner. In the instruction manual, beginning on page 12 are instructions for different procedures for installing the air conditioner depending on which existing wall sleeve you have and what its dimensions are. You can review these instructions to see if you can use your existing wall sleeve with the new air conditioner or determine how you might be able to solve any issues of installing the air conditioner. The narrowest width for an existing wall sleeve that can be used is 25 3/4" and the shortest height is 15 1/4" and the shallowest depth is 15"...^IFV

Q: Looking to purchase an AC with high dehumidification specs. I'm considering model LT0816CER. Can someone give me a detailed explanation how the " DRY MODE" feature works? How does it dehumidify without cooling? The more detail your answer, the better.

  • A: The specifications on our product detail page for the LG 8,000 BTU 115v Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner, Model # LT0816CER list Dehumidification (Pts/hr) as 2.1. When the air conditioner is running on DRY mode, it removes humidity from the room without additional cooling. The DRY mode does not have settings for the level of dehumidification or moisture levels that a standalone dehumidifier has and it is not as efficient as a standalone dehumidifier. Keep in mind that all air conditioners have the capacity to remove humidity from the air, but they can only do so much. When your AC is running, it passes air over its evaporator coils. These coils cool the air, which separates the moisture from the air. As the cooled air is piped into your house, the moisture collects in the AC and drains out. Several factors affect the AC’s ability to dehumidify, and even the perfect AC may not be able to combat extreme humidity. If the AC is too small (i.e. the BTU rating is not sufficient for the room size), it won’t be able to adequately dehumidify all the air in the room. If the AC is too large (i.e. if the BTU rating is more than required for the room size), it’ll cool the air very quickly and then turn off, which means, once again, it doesn’t dehumidify all the air in the room. The AC’s filters also affect how much air can flow in and out of the AC. If they’re old and dirty, enough air may not pass through the AC for adequate dehumidification. Dehumidification does not cool a room, it removes the hot, moisture-laden air from the room so the room does not feel muggy and sticky due to excess water vapor in the air, making the room feel more comfortable. In standalone dehumidifiers, moist air is taken in, passed over the evaporator coil followed by the condenser coil, and then released back into the room. As the air passes over the condenser coil, it is actually warmed, resulting in warmer air being released than was previously taken in. And, since dehumidifiers are completely in the room as they work, this also results in a warming effect, which reduces the humidity levels in an indirect manner. Air conditioners reduce the level of humidity in a room, but rather than warm the air, they cool it, making warm, sticky environments much more comfortable. Where most dehumidifiers are kept within the space they are working, air conditioners are often kept outside, or partially outside (such as a window unit). Warm, moist air is taken in, either through the unit or through a vent in the wall. Similar to the dehumidifier, it passes over an evaporator coil and then a condenser coil. As air passes over the condenser coil, the warmth created is released outside of the room, thus resulting in a cooler environment. The cooling effect of the air conditioner is the main reason these machines are used. So in one sentence, the difference between a dehumidifier and an air conditioner is that the dehumidifier decreases the humidity level by drying the air making it warmer and the air conditioner similarly removes humidity by cooling the air. as described above...^IFV

Cooling

This LG through the wall air conditioner is a great option for cooling a large space. We have a large open bottom floor in our home, and it definitely has the ability to cool it. Energy efficient and multiple settings for fan speed. Convenient remote control. Obviously, an in the wall mounted air conditioner isn't for everyone, but i love the idea of not having a window blocked and no large unit sitting on my floor for a portable air conditioner. Great option from a trusted brand.

Energy efficient and reliable. Read manual before

This LG through-the-wall AC was a big upgrade for my home, and just in time for summer! It cools my bedroom evenly, which I usually have trouble with when using AC units. It's definitely not completely silent, but it is notably quieter than any window unit I've had over the years. The settings give me plenty of control to adjust the airflow and speed, and I love having a remote. Though, I tend to expect these features on modern units and at this price point. It arrived with wear and tear on the box due to the weight, but the actual unit was thankfully packed well and in perfect condition. BE SURE to read the instructions thoroughly before attempting to install! Determining the placement and what was involved was SO important. Especially since the unit is around 80 pounds! Installation was no small task and there wasn't much room for error at that weight. It took two of us to get it set up properly. Then we had to learn how to operate it! I really like the energy saving features and the 24 hour timer. The trim gives it a sleek look, but honestly doesn't feel super durable long-term. However, the unit itself is solid and well built. It has been such a great improvement for the comfort of the space and seems like it will hold up a long time. I'm really glad I went with this model, and relieved that I checked measurements before selecting it! I did receive this product to try in exchange for my honest review.

Great air conditioning wall unit, it is quiet and works fantastic. Keeps my living room nice and cool during the hotter seasons. The unit was easy to install in my previous wall cutout. It also comes with a remote, making it easier to access!
