Black jeans smell terrible

I love the style of these jeans, but the black pair came with a strong smell that was very difficult to wash out. After three attempts to get rid of the smell, the color of the black jeans started to fade. It is frustrating because they look very cute, but the strong smell and poor quality make me wonder if they are worth the price.
