Side Effects
The most frequently-reported adverse reaction to insulin (such as Lantus) is hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, which can be a serious, life-threatening condition. This can be harmful to the brain or heart. Symptoms of severely low levels of blood sugar can include:
- Blurred vision
- Rapid heartbeat
- Sweating
- Shaking
- Weight gain
- Edema
- Rash
- Pruritus
- Lipodystrophy
- Reactions at the injection site
- Allergic reactions
