Q: Why is this heating pad 23"L x 6.5"W smaller than the Medium dog Igloo ? I have looked at the size stated for the Medium Petmate Igloo Dog house.,,Is the inside of the house that much smaller ?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi CJ1017, We do not carry a dog igloo by K&H Pet Products, so I would not be able to compare the pad to the igloo dimensions. Petmate is a different brand, so we cant make the claim that the K&H heating pad would fit in the Petmate igloo.

Q: Can the pad to go on top of a dog bed within the igloo? Our older dog needs extra cushion for his joints and it's too thick to put on top of the pad.

1 Answer
  • A: Hi there, Joanne8411! Thank you for your question! You never want to place anything on top of a K&H outdoor bed or pad other than the cover provided. This cover allows the warmth to go through whereas a blanket or any other cover will trap the heat inside the bed or pad, possibly causing a malfunction.

Q: How do I get this in my dog igloo with the cord hanging out?

1 Answer
  • A: if I ran the cord out the door I was worried about my dog catching the cord as he came and went , so I drilled a hole thought the back side of the igloo down low that was large enough for the cord to fit through, then I put a tall stake next the the igloo, ran the cord up that and over to the plug in

Q: How is the heat controlled

1 Answer
  • A: All K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature when he/she lies on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by a pet’s body, not the weight of the pet. K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.

Dog warmer

Bought it for my dog's igloo. She won't use the igloo because a cat had a litter of kittens in it years ago. Couldn't convince her to use it, so I moved the pad to our barn. Dog comes back into the house, when's she's not on her outdoor pillow and the cats use it to stay warm. It works great! Cats should be warm enough during the upcoming Arctic blast. Win, win!

Yes, I recommend this product.

The heated kennel pad doesn’t put out a lot of heat, it’s more cumulative in combination with the igloo warmth.

Heating pad

We have a black female lab for some reason ever since we put the heating pad in her house she won’t go in there. Can’t understand why. We had chips in her house before took them out. But I don’t know how to get her to go back in her house. She acts like she is afraid. Anyone have any suggestions I would like to try it. I feel like the heating pad would work good.

It could just be that it's a new object in her environment. Perhaps try putting some treats on the bed to try and coax her in. khpets
